Dear friends:
The Community Foundation was founded on the idea that “giving creates community.” Nearly 50 years later, the Foundation continues to work to strengthen our community through philanthropy.
Your support has helped the Foundation have immeasurable impact:
- Strengthening nonprofit organizations through funding and leadership: since 1968, the Foundation has awarded $50 million in grants to community organizations.
- Connecting local students with scholarship opportunities to help them reach their educational potential: since 1968, the Foundation has awarded nearly $4 million in scholarships to deserving scholars.
- Collaborating with individuals and families to develop innovative and unique ways of support for the causes and organizations closest to their hearts. Today, the Foundation manages 390 philanthropic funds totaling more than $63.5 million.
- Building consensus among funding partners around shared issues. The Foundation believes that together, we are stronger. Through our partnership with the Capital Region Coalition to End Homelessness, the Foundation has helped to leverage more than $17 million in federal grant funding to provide relief for homeless individuals and families, and to develop ways to stop homelessness from occurring.
The work of the Foundation is supported by a combination of gifts to our annual appeal, gifts from funds held at the Foundation, and fee revenue. Our long-term objective is to build the operating endowment to a level that will generate sufficient income to support the core work of the Foundation. Until then, we count on annual support from our friends and supporters.
Please consider joining as a Friend of the Foundation with a financial contribution to the 2014 annual appeal. Please click here or on the button to the right to make your gift by year-end.
Thank you for your support which helps the Foundation to address current community issues and advocate for support of emerging needs in the most effective ways possible.
Yours in philanthropy,
Karen Bilowith
