The Black Male Achievement Social Innovation Accelerator (the “Accelerator”) is a key strategy of the Campaign for Black Male Achievement to showcase and spread what works in the field of black male achievement — by selecting and supporting a cohort of Black Male Achievement (BMA) Innovators.
Black Male Achievement Innovators are experienced leaders whose organizations demonstrate powerful results in improving the life outcomes of Black men and boys, who pursue high performance, and who are positioned to spread their results and catalyze systemic change.
For the 2015-2016 cohort, the Accelerator is launching a search for leaders:
- NATIONWIDE working to impact policy, advocacy, strategic communications/messaging, and research: We welcome leaders whose program models demonstrate improved outcomes for Black men and boys locally in one or more towns/cities, and who have started to spread their work at the national level by informing public policy or other means.
OR
- IN DETROIT working in the areas of education, work, health, family, safety, and strategic communications/messaging: Activities can include: direct service, advocacy (public policy, community organizing, etc), providing funding, research, strategic communications/messaging, managing a network, etc.
As part of the cohort, BMA Innovators receive $25,000 in cash for general operating support, 12 months of one-on-one consulting and coaching to articulate their goals, strengthen their communications for fundraising and sustainability, and have opportunities to be showcased to funders. Alumni receive an additional 12 months of on-going check-ins to track progress against goals.
